Policy for data protection, cookies and log files

Data protection

The owners of this closed private/non-public and non-commercial family genealogy site take the protection of your personal data extremely serious. We treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with the "Norwegian Law of personal information of 15 June 2018", which implement the European Unions's general data protection regulations (GDPR) in Norway, and in accordance with the privacy policies at this page. Genealogy details of living and deceased persons are, for privacy purposes, visible only to logged-in site users. Password protected user accounts are only supplied to family members upon application to and approval from the site administrator. Personal information is only used for creating listings, reports, charts and family trees for the members of the genealogy database. Details of living and deceased persons are not sold or shared with third parties for any purposes, and this site does not carry out any marketing to companies nor to individuals.

The use of our website is not possible without providing personal data. When personal information is requested, for example name and email address when you register, this info must be given for a person to be approved and registered as a user. This data will never be shared with or passed on to third parties.

Sending information over the Internet is subject to security issues. Complete protection of the data from being accessed by third parties is not possible. We have, however, set up an HTTPS server with a browser-trusted SSL certificate from Let's Encrypt, where the public and private keys are establishing a secure connection to make data transfer to and from the site as secure as possible.

This website use cookies - small text files that are stored on your computer by your browser. These files do not harm your computer and they do not contain viruses. The cookies perform important functions in the operation of the website.

Most of the cookies we use are "session cookies". They are normally automatically deleted when you close your browser, but some cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them. These cookies allow us to recognize your browser the next time you visit and restore some of your preferences, such as your preferred language.

You can configure your browser settings so that you are informed about the setting of cookies and allow their use only in certain cases. Disabling cookies may limit the functionality of our website.

When you register or if you send us inquiries with the contact form, your details from the forms, including the contact details you provided, will be stored in log files. This is done in order to process the request, for use in case of follow-up questions and for later communication with the site administrator. We will never pass on to or share this data with any third parties.
